Week: 10 Daily Lesson Plan Prepared By: Farheen Zafar

Date: 4 Oct 2021

Subject: Chemistry Class: O2 Period: 1 (45 min)

Ch/Topic: Chemical equations Subtopic: Physical and chemical change

Objective(s): Students will be able to:

• Review physical and chemical properties of matter.
• Record observations of changes in matter.
• Use evidence to distinguish between physical and chemical changes.
Skills focused on: Warm up, Discussion, and Experimental
Resources: book, LED, Board, Duster, necessary apparatus for activities
Warm up: What is difference between milk and yogurt?
Discussion:
• Physical changes only change the appearance of a substance, not its chemical composition.
• Chemical changes cause a substance to change into an entirely substance with a new chemical formula.
• Chemical changes are also known as chemical reactions. The “ingredients” of a reaction are called
reactants, and the end results are called products.

Experimental: Teacher to perform experiment in front of students using candle.

Some observations will be noted and the physical change along with chemical will be explained.

Activity # 1: Mixed ability groups will be formed to encourage students to carry out investigation on
mixing salt in water and jotting down the observations, then explaining the kind of change.
Activity # 2: Mixed ability groups will perform experiment using vinegar and baking soda then will record
the observations to explain the kind of change. Group work will be monitored to ensure relevant discussion and
investigations.
Success Criteria: Remember to:
1) Differentiate between physical and chemical changes.
2) Handle apparatus carefully.
3) Collaborate in group work.
Assessment Plan: Questions will be asked from the students as a prompt to clarify the understanding and to
conclude lesson.
C.W:
• Crumple or fold the paper to demonstrate physical change
• Burn the tip of a piece of paper to demonstrate chemical change.
Online Assessment ( if any):
H.W: Write few examples from daily life about physical and chemical changes.
