Duque added that the P1.23-billion savings of DOH and the P1.28-billion
contingency funds of the Office of the President are enough to finance the
benefits.

"It (funding requirement) will reach P2.51 billion, wherein each healthcare
worker will get P2,000 per month. Overall, they will get P6,000 each for three
months covering September 15 to December 19 last year," Duque said during a
meeting of the government's pandemic task force aired Wednesday night.

Since the Bayanihan 2 law has lapsed, the health department needs authority to
use the funds and distribute the allowances.

"The DOH is preparing an administrative order and I will give it to Executive

Secretary (Salvador) Medialdea so there will be a legal basis in the distribution
of the MAT (meals, accommodation and transportation) allowance for our
healthcare workers who have not received such benefits from September to
December 2020," Duque said.

"We seek your approval , Mr. President, so we can provide the allowances I
mentioned to our healthcare workers," he added.
