I. SUMMARY
RATIONALE
From the research that was inspired by the visit to
Nepal, aquaponics has been highlighted in which it gave
an accurate solution to the problem of high demands for
food and extensive use of resources such as soil.
As per problem that was stated, the system also
adheres to conserve time and energy of the local farmers.
An opportunity to use even less amount of said resources
are the main reasons why the research was proposed. It is
a huge contribution to help farmers lessen the load of
their jobs and responsibilities. Further, an automated
system according to Al-Ruya Bilingual School (2017) helps
in monitoring the parameters of the aquaponics system.
To conserve energy and To maximize the use of
time from farmers for the modernization such as the
system will use machines robots' arm that will serve
and not hand work from as the farmers considering
workers that they will monitor, lift,
and harvest the plants.

Conclusion
AQUAPONICS

a combination of aquaculture and hydroponics in which the cultivation of plants in water

and is united with aquatic animals.
It saves time and is more efficient especially the aquatic animals will feed on the nutrients of
the hydroponic plant.
It requires enough space and materials to work properly. Some of them are pipes, pumps,
trays, and motors.

The operation starts at the filling of fish tank and the fishes are placed. While the plants
are sitting on a platform, the seedlings will be placed in a loop. Even if a filter and tanks are
placed, it is not enough to prevent the bacteria lurking around the tank. As it has also a reservoir
tank, maintenance is still needed in preserving this aquaponics system. This aquaponics can have
additions/improvements in the future for the better quality of aquaponics.
ESSENTIAL
CONCEPTS
Sustainable Agriculture
It's a type of farming that emphasizes producing long-term
crops and livestock with low environmental impact. This style of
agriculture attempts to strike a balance between the
requirement for food production and the maintenance of the
environment's ecological system.
Recirculating Aquaculture
System (RAS)
Aquaculture is the process of growing aquatic creature, both
animals and plants in a fruitful environment. Small ponds, oceans,
lakes, and rivers are the means where aquaculture can be done, from
where we get the benefits of producing foods, conserve endangered
species and fish culture.
Process parameter
Water parameter is monitored in aquaponics farming by
taking water sample from any point of the system, which is
the advantage of aquaponics farming compared with soil-
based farming. By the use of process parameters, this
ensures that the right condition are met not only for the
plants, but for the whole ecosystem.
Nitrogen Cycle
It is a series of processes in which nitrogen travels
between living and non-living objects such as the
atmosphere, soil water, plants, animals and
microorganisms. Aquaponics relies heavily on the
nitrogen cycle
Bacteria
Nitrosomona bacteria is a chemoautotrophic
ammonia-oxidizing bacteria, which means it converts
ammonia to nitrite with the help of oxygen. Nitrobacter
bacteria, on the other hand, is a rod-shaped bacteria
that can convert nitrite to nitrate, which plants require
to survive.
They operate in aerobic circumstances, which
means they require oxygen to grow and survive. These
nitrifying bacteria uses inorganic chemicals as an
energy source. They are also important for adjusting
the pH of the water in the system.
