DEAR SCHOOL ADMINISTRATOR,

As a newly graduated college student with a bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education and
a minor in Early Childhood Education, I was very excited when I read about the position for a
First-Grade teacher at your Elementary School. I have various experiences working with
young children which has set me up for success in a First-Grade classroom. My determination
makes me a capable individual to prepare young children to become successful. I believe my
qualities fit the description needed to work in your school setting.
In my most recent position, I was student-teaching at Langford Area Elementary in the
Preschool and Kindergarten classrooms. I learned so many new and exciting ways to keep
students engaged in learning. I was able to exercise my communication and teaching skills
and was given feedback by my cooperating teacher and the faculty at Northern State
University.
Not only did I gain knowledge about how to manage a classroom, but I was also responsible
for evaluating performance assessments. I have had the pleasure of working in classrooms of
all ages during my time at Northern State University. I can say without a doubt in my mind
that my interactions with children of all ages has set me up for success in my future
classroom. These interactions have created a well-rounded skillset that will help me succeed
in a First Grade Classroom.
I excel at managing time, staying organized, and communicating with children, parents, and
coworkers. My past experiences of working with children reflect well on my ability to interact
and educate children. Being able to practice my teaching skills has allowed me to use my
communication skills with individuals of all ages, which will help me create a friendly and
encouraging environment in my future classroom.

I believe that my experience and determination will make me an excellent fit for this
