W1-2 Analysing The Topic Question
W1-2 Analysing The Topic Question
There is no chance of gaining a pass grade without first spending time analysing your Topic
Question (TQ). So, think of the TQ as being similar to a topic sentence in that it has the topic and
a control concept.
The topic comes before the colon and the control concept comes after the colon.
All of your 12 text summaries in the analysis section of the report must include the topic and some
aspect of the control concept.
Example TQ
The graduate recruitment process:
An analysis of the personal characteristics employers prioritise during the interview process
The Topic: Every text you select must include information directly connected to the topic and the
topic must be included in every summary in the analysis section.
The Control Concept: Every summary must include a direct reference to some aspect of the
control concept. In this example, it means a focus on what, how, and why employers focus on
personal characteristics.
