In the folding unit, the magazines are folded over by a set of guides. These have been designed with con- siderable care and the folding pressure is preadjusted. All fold- ing parts are mirror finished. The length of this unit is such that the fold is always parallel to the spine. Before wrapping a soft or round fold is made in the book, end this, can then be compressed into a sharp foldgluing unit All ZAANDAM. machines use quick-drying cold adhesive for gluing the wrappers. This means the machine is always ready for use. There is no warm: ing-up time and the job is a clean one. A double glue line is applied to the wrapper by a single glue wheel. A set of friction belts tighten the wrapper afterwards. Each indivi- dual friction belt is adjustable in order to obtain both the correct tensile force and tensile pressure.
