My Daily Journal
(A New Beginning)
A new opportunity means a fresh start, and all the wonderful possibilities new
beginnings bring. It is a great day to start my beginning day as a practice teacher at The
First Uniting Christian School. I can’t wait to witness new strategies, techniques, and
approaches that my cooperating teacher and other teachers will use in their classes
especially in this new kind of class set up which is the online class.
At exactly 8AM in the morning, my co-practice teachers and I, together with our pretty
cooperating teacher, Ms. Janet Balbalosa Dasalla, held a meeting with regards to the
protocols and updates for today’s agenda. We’ve discussed the requirements that is
required to us including daily journal, instructional materials, attendance, lesson plan, etc.
Ms. Janet also taught us how to use ClassIn, an application that enables teachers to perform
discussion virtually. It was kind of challenging, yet a fulfilling emotion because I got to

The last class for this day was with Grade 9 David. The lesson about Figures of Speech
went well. Ms. Janet taught them the three common types of Figures of Speech which are
Simile, Metaphor, and Personification. The class ended with an activity to be passed and
conducted on Friday.
I could not imagine how hard it is to work or teach in front of a web camera. I can say
that today’s way of teaching is really challenging for every teacher. Not only a lot of
knowledge about technology is needed to perform at your best in today’s set up of online
class, but also an access to the internet is a huge help to deliver learning for the students. I
could only hope that every teacher nowadays could have these requirements for a better
