Personal Statement

I am applying for a place on the MBA Management Information System course

at Unicaf University because I am very interested in the topics covered in MIS.

My interest in these areas was first aroused during my HND studies at

Polytechnic where I studied Information Technology when I did a project from
design to development. During my research I sourced documents relating to
Information Systems and my interest was further aroused. This program not only
covers the above topics but will also introduce me to the new areas of MIS which
will broaden my knowledge and understanding of the topic as a whole. I
achieved a very high grade for my Diploma and I am keen to build on my
interest in research during the element of the course. I am expecting to attain a
high class degree which I hope will demonstrate my academic ability to study at
this level.

My work placement at CBZ Bank during the period of 2007 - 2013 reinforced
my interest in the areas of Information Systems and I was able to experience the
effects of applying Information Systems in a working environment. My main role
was to monitor all company IS and to analyze the data using statistical packages.
I wrote a report on my findings which was well received by my organization.
This experience helped me to develop relevant skills in constructing
questionnaires, managing my time effectively and writing succinctly.

My ability to work well in a team has been demonstrated in a number of group

projects. Not only did I develop my communication and skills, I also learnt how
to negotiate and juggle tasks. I’m also particularly proud of my creativity ability,
which has been shown and expanded on throughout a number of projects and
assignments. I’m also extremely organised, with a high attention to detail.

I am particularly keen to study MIS at your University because of the

international reputation of the University attracts such a variety of students and I
believe it will be a stimulating environment in which to study at masters’ level.
Your university also provides excellent working and recreation facilities for
graduate students which demonstrate your commitment to the graduate student
body.

Following the MBA course I would like to pursue my interest in research in the
area of MIS through doing a PhD.

Yours
