3 Mounting Mold

There is a risk of death or serious injury due to the dropping of a lifted mold. Do not allow
anyone to come under the lifted mold.

When installing a mold, hands or whole or a part of your body may be caught between the
mold and the platen. Instead of touching the mold directly with your hands, use an object such
as a rod until there is no space between the mold and platens.
Falling while working in high places can cause injuries. When operating in a high place, use
an appropriate working platform and safety belt, and be careful not to fall. Also, do not climb
on the bed.
Molds larger than the dimensions of the platen surface may contact your body causing
injuries. Do not mount a mold (including accessories) larger than the dimensions of the platen
surface.

2.3.1Essential Points for Mounting Molds

1. Mold and platens
 Clean contact areas of the mold and the platens.
 Repair damaged portions, if any.
 Observe the minimum mold size. (Refer to "1.2.4".)
 Observe the allowable mass of the mounting mold. (Refer to "1.2.4".)
 Parallelism of molds: 0.08 mm/m (0.00096 inch/ft) (Do NOT use any mold that
has a defect.)
2. Alignment of nozzle
 Align the nozzle center. (Refer to "2.6.2".)
3. Embedded length of mold mounting bolts
 The proper embedded length is 1.5 to 2 times of the bolt diameter. (Refer to table
2-1.)
4. Mold mounting bolt
 Tighten to the proper torque. (Refer to table 2-1.)

 Use of a torque wrench is recommended.
