Public relations: an analysis of emergence plan

Emergency and disaster planning do not have to be about risk management and safety

professionals but also other organizational departments such as human resource management.

When concerned departments work closely in emergence preparedness, it positively influences

the plan’s response to the disaster. One emergency preparedness and response agency includes

the Association of State and Territorial Health Officials (ASTHO). It works as a representative

of different America’s public health organizations, such as those of the District of Columbia

(RHIhub, 2021). It has a plan that helps inform and create awareness of health-related policies

and other practices among the public. It also advocates for the health measures and techniques to

the health professionals themselves. It covers different issues that professionals undergo at work

to ensure their maximum protection while on duty.

An emergence plan should always equip individuals with technical assistance in all

circumstances. ASTHO provides such service to the public health agencies, which tends to

evaluate emergency preparedness among them. It plays a crucial role in ensuring that the

agencies effectively respond to any public health-related threats and emergencies in all

circumstances (RHIhub, 2021). Undoubtedly, it follows the Ready steps of developing a

preparedness program – managing the program, planning, implementing, evaluating, and

improving the program where necessary. Organizations tend to change and grow over time, thus

prompting the need for periodically reviewing and updating the emergency plan. It helps to

restore its effectiveness to the current standards and application in mitigating the risks and

disasters. Different disasters and emergencies in an organization require a different response.

Incorporating such reactions within the organizational departments and other agencies creates a
difference in the plan's outcome. ASTHO will improve not only their services but also their

effectiveness in responding to threats and disasters.
