Course Description
• This is a 1-credit course that will
include presentations by invited
speakers and/or faculty members and
student presentations. The course is
intended to help facilitate the
development of students’ thesis
research ideas and to contribute to the
student’s professional development
focusing on skills or professional
experience typically not provided in
coursework, such as teaching and
knowledge translation.
• Students will lead discussions and
presentations on methods being used
in their thesis and preliminary results
(if available).
Course Outcomes
At the end of the course, the
students should be able to:
• develop specific skills
needed in science
education, including
presenting research;
• enhance students with
professional development
skills and opportunities
Course Requirements
• Attendance/ Participation of 5
webinars hosted by the University,
Dep. Ed, LGUs, Academe related to
Science, Pedagogy and
Management;
• Synthesis Paper (15 journal
articles)
• Hosting a mini conference (virtual
or face to face) to present your
synthesis paper (Dec. 4 and 11,
2021). Note: You must follow the
steps om “ the craft of scientific
presentations.
Synthesis Paper
 You will be required to synthesize a minimum of 15 journals
(2010 – 2021) that is related to the topic of your proposed master
thesis.
 Please use short bond paper and encode it using Times New
Roman, 12 pt font and in double space. You can include figures,
graphs or diagram and support this with description. Don’t forget
to include the Bibliography (APA format).
 This paper will be presented before the end of this semester. Each
of the students should provide a copy of their paper to their
classmate for critiquing before the presentation. The power point
presentation of the papers will be done on the same date.
 Comments/suggestions for the improvement of the paper should
be written in one (1) short bond paper, indicating the title and
author of the synthesis paper and this will be read after the last
presenter.
