In distance education settings interaction at different levels is crucial for

learners motivation and success in their course. First, as had been discussed, there
are different levels of interactions i.e. synchronous and asynchronous. Second,
considerations have to be taken on as described already by Moore (1989), the three
levels of interactions, namely, interaction with the media, interaction with the
academics, and finally interactions with peer learners. Thirdly, formal and
informal interactions have to be considered, as Hart (2011, 2014) is discussing one
can’t manage informal learning, just the way one use it, especially related to social
media and peer learning. Fourth, and finally current research show success
indicators for motivation, progress, retention, and not at least for staying in the
course. This research study has implications for learning design in open online
distance education as it has shown different levels of interaction, and as earlier
research has revealed interaction is one of the most important success factors for
success and to keep motivation and to take ones own responsibility for the learning
processes.
