Hi everybody,

IchemE.aze team hopes you are doing well.

Within a week, our topic related to process engineering is pumps. We guarantee
you that later in the week you will have sufficient information about pumps.
Pumps, in industry, are used to transfer fluid from one place to another via
increasing its pressure (energy). Pumps are divided into 3 categories:
Centrifugal pumps.
The centrifugal pump develops its pressure by centrifugal force on the liquid
passing through the pump.
Types of Centrifugal pumps
1. Centrifugal
2. Propeller
3. Mixed Flow
4. Peripheral
5. Turbine
6. Radial Flow
7. Axial Flow

Rotary pumps.
Rotary pumps operate in a circular motion and displace a constant amount of liquid
with each revolution of the pump shaft. These pumps operate on the working
principle of mechanical means to transfer liquid.
Types of Rotary pumps
1. Cam
2. Screw
3. Gear
4. Vane
5. Lob
6. Piston
7. Flexible Rotor

Reciprocating Pumps.
Reciprocating Pump works on the principle of movement of the piston in
forwarding and backward directions. These types of pumps are mainly used in high
– pressure applications and when an exact amount of liquid is required to transfer
or inject.
Types of Reciprocating Pumps
1. Piston
2. Plunger
3. Diaphragm
