Introduction
I want to work with upper elementary grades so third through
fifth is what I am hoping to teach. For my Classroom
Management Plan I am going to focus on Fifth grade because
they are so fun and slowly becoming small leaders. I believe
inclusion and an encouraging environment is essential to
having a positive classroom community. I want my classroom
to be a safe space for children to explore their passions,
interest, and to even make mistakes. Students are my number
one priority and giving them the tools to succeed and build
relationships with one another is at the top of the list. This will
be a place for students to have ownership of their decisions.
Philosophy
My beliefs about classroom management is creating a positive environment for students and putting
their needs at the forefront of my needs. I have seen the positive effects of having a positive
community within the classroom and it brings a sort of classroom spirit that kids will buy into. I believe
a teacher should be assertive but also caring towards her students because they want the students to
grow and become independent citizens in the classroom. Giving them freedom to make their own
decisions and having ownership for their responsibilities is also important. I also believe students learn
from those more knowledgeable from them so whether it is from a teacher, other adults, and even
fellow peers. My management style is related to Maslow’s Hierarchy of Needs mixed with Lev
Vygotsky. I want my students to have their needs met whether it’s physiological, safety, belonging,
esteem, and more because these things matter in order for learning to be effective. A child wants
someone to care for them and understand their needs are essential for learning to produce. Kids also
need social interaction because it is a fundamental role of cognitive development. The zone of
proximal development provides support in regards to observing where a child is and seeing what can I
do to help them reach that next step or level. This creates a sense of understanding as to where the
student is and then assisting them to progress forward. I also want to have inclusion be an essential
part of the classroom because I want all students to feel important and seen in my class. I believe
having encouragement and inclusion being the core values of my classroom will cause students to feel
special and excited to come to school. My classroom philosophy is guiding students to become young
leaders by assisting them in any way I can while having fun in the process.

The first days of school will be a time of transition for all students so I want to establish procedures, expectations, and
material for the school year. I also want it to be a time for my students and I to build relationships and get to know one
another. I want the first day to be a time of setting procedures but also allowing time for my students to know me and for
me to know my students. I also think it’s important for students to get to know one another.
AWESOME
THINGS ABOUT ME
WORKSHEET
Students will be given a worksheet
like this one where they will be
able to color and fill in the blanks.
When students are done filling this
out then they will be given the
opportunity to share one awesome
thing about them. This will allow for
students and myself to get to
know each other.

Social Contract
● On the first day of school I want my students to create
a social contract.
● I want students to come up with expectations they
have for each other to hold each other and
themselves accountable.
● The purpose of this contract is for students to feel
involved in creating their rules for year and have
ownership of what they are signing to.
● As an educator, I want to have some ideas prepared
as to what to should be classroom rules but I want
students to lead the conversation and I’ll guide them
along.

Ice Breakers
After we finish creating the social contract then
we will move onto an ice breakers. This will allow
for students to become more familiar with their
peers while enjoying a fun game of D-
ICEBREAKERS. The students will be given dice and
they will play amongst their table groups. This is a
fun way for students to slowly become
comfortable with one another and relationships
between students to form as well.

Classroom Newsletter
Before school starts, I want to send out a Newsletter to the
parents whose parents will be in my class. The newsletter will
introduce who I am, the school supplies needed for my
classroom, a Parent Remind 101 for my weekly messages,
and a Reminder page. I have seen the importance of parent
communication with the teacher and having them feeling
involved in their child’s education. This creates an open line
of communication and will be a weekly newsletter. The
newsletter will be sent at the beginning of each week and will
include important dates, what their child will be learning in
each subject, birthday list, and a word of encouragement!

Classroom Blueprints
1 2
Classroom 3

Blueprints
• All three of the blueprints obtain the same material but are
arranged in various ways.

• Classroom #1 has the teacher's desk behind the students to

allow the students to kind of have their own freedom but also
having the teacher being able to see every part of the room.

• Classroom #2 is intentionally arranged for small instructional

work where students can learn from one another while I guide
them along.

• Classroom #3 has the student's desk to be in a center of the

room with all desk forming sort of a U shape because I want
the students to lead discussions. I want students to have the
freedom for open discussion and peer work.

• All three classroom emphasize the importance of

collaboration while learning. Students learn from each other
and having them in small groups will create a healthy
environment of social interaction while also exploring the
subjects we are going through. I have added the element of a
circle carpet used for the intention of having an
encouragement circle where each week we have a time of
encouragement for one another. I want to create a people
centered classroom where everyone in the classroom
(students and teacher) are all learning and growing.
Classroom Theme
Classroom themes implement a positive classroom
community where creativity and exploration can
occur. When the student's environment is fun and
interactive then students will feel welcomed to be
themselves and engage in the learning. A
classroom should feel like a student's second
home and having a vibrant, colorful, “Up” theme
will have the students step into the movie up and
feel like they are apart of it! I would have their
name tags to be “Up” theme and the door will
have all their individual names on the balloons
they know they are apart of my class. I loved the
movie “UP” because it teaches students to lift one
another up and to believe in their dreams.

creating-classroom-procedures-together/
List of Procedures
1. Arriving to class and where to place personal belongings
2. Leaving class and gathering belongings for dismissal/ class switches
3. Lining up for specials/lunch/ restroom
4. Bathroom pass system
5. Classroom managers
6. Attention getters
7. Social contract
8. Late work Bin
9. Homework Bin
10. Anonymous Teacher Mailbox
11. Brain Breaks
12. Writing/Reading Workshops
13. Classroom Ticket System
14. Fire Drill
15. Exit Ticket

Procedures are very important because it creates routine for the students. It is necessary to practice these the first couple of weeks for
students to become used to how things will be done. They should also be repeated throughout the school year especially after
breaks.
Attention
Getters
• Attention getters are important because it
allows for the teacher to get ahold of the
student's attention in a fun engaging way.
This creates the students to be active
participants in the classroom and feel a
sense of ownership. Attention getters are
fun and create an easy sense of
transitioning into the next topic. Some
attention getters I would use are :
• "Ready to rock?... Ready to Roll"
• "Peanut Butter... Jelly time"
• "Hands up top... everybody stop"

Classroom
Managers/Jobs
• I would implement classroom managers
into my classroom because I want
students to feel a part of our classroom. I
want them to feel like they have a role in
making our classroom function and being
citizens within the classroom. Students
want to feel like citizens in the class
instead of tourist.
• This would create a cohesive classroom
where the students can have ownership in
the classroom and will help relieve some
of the responsibility from me.
Some classroom managers would be door
holder, lights, attendance keeper, and
more.

Restroom Pass Ashley’s
Restroom Pass
This will create an effective way for
student's go to the restroom on their
own. I want each student to have
their own restroom pass with their
name and it will be laminated. This
will cause people to have ownership
of their own restroom pass and will
be only with their germs. They will all
have a clip on it so they can just clip it
to their shirt and won't worry about
setting it on the door or floor where
Ben’s
germs can easily get on it. There will
be a classroom manager helper for Restroom Pass
this and they will manage the sign in
and sign out sheet so they can see
how many people are out of the class
and what time they went and
returned.

Rules/Expectations
• 1. Respect others and their property.
• 2. Keep hands and feet to yourself.
• 3. Come prepared to class with homework completed and a positive
attitude.
• 4. Listen and follow all instructions given by the teacher.
• 5. Remember to work hard and do your best!
• 6. We will be kind to one another and build each other up
• 7. Have fun!
Behavior chart
I want students to be responsible for their
actions so having a student ownership
behavior chart in their binders would be
important. I want students to have their
behavior chart in their binders so that it’s
private but also gives the student
ownership to take responsibility for their
actions. At the beginning of the school year,
I will send out a form with what each level
of the behavior chart means so that when
the color stamp is sent home then the
parent will know how their child did in my
class that day. Each day the child will
receive a purple, dark blue, light blue,
green, yellow, orange, or red stamp and will
have comments on their child’s behavior.
There will be a signature line for parents to
sign off the day to show they viewed their
child’s behavior chart. I decided to use this
form of behavior chart because its fun for
students especially with the emoji’s being https://www.dkclassroomoutlet.com/emoji-fun-desktop-
accurate descriptions for each level. behavior-clip-charts
Cool Down
Corner
The calm down corner will be a place for students to go if
they need to just calm down and think through their actions
if they are misbehaving. This will be place for them to
reevaluate their actions and just refresh before entering back
into the fill classroom environment. The cool down corner
will be in the corner of the classroom, away from their peers.
I want this place to be a safe place for them to collect their
thoughts and feelings. The corner will provide a think sheet
for them to walk through. There will be a chart with
expressions such as mad, angry, sad, happy, calm and more.
Then the child will walk through the situation and write on
the paper how it made them feel, how it made their partner
feel, and what they could have done differently. Once they
completed this then the last question will be how do they
feel now and will be able to return back to their table.

Warning Cards
When a child is misbehaving and
interrupting class instruction I will place
a warning card on their desk. This card
is simply giving them a warning and
telling them to stop and rethink their
actions. After 10 minutes or when
there is free time from giving them the
card they have to come to my desk and
explain what they did wrong and how
they will act moving forward. This is
allow for the child to stop and rethink
their actions. This also gives them some
time to calm down and reevaluate their
behavior without making a big deal
about it in front of everyone.

Class Dojo
I believe there should be a classroom
engagement for all. I want a system in my
classroom where parents can be involved in
their children’s learning and know what is
happening in the classroom. I believe Class
Dojo provides this opportunity where students
have a voice, you can share moments with
parents as to what is happening in the
classroom, and a positive classroom
environment is taking place. I will introduce this
before school starts by sending out an email of
what classroom dojo is, how it will look like in
the classroom, and step by step instructions on
how to enroll into my class. I have heard of this
program being fun, engaging, and information
in all areas. I’m excited as to how effective this
could be in my classroom and building
relationships between students and their care
givers. https://www.mukilteoschools.org/Page/5039

Go Noodle Brain Break
Students need brain breaks at times to
stretch, refresh, or dance out any pent up
energy because I know sitting at a desk for
long periods of time can loose students
focus. I want o implement Go Noodle into
my classroom. It is a fun and friendly way for
students to have a break in the day and get
up and let out some energy. I would have
two brain breaks per class since I will have a
morning and afternoon class. This would be
played at the beginning of class and towards
the middle of class. This will create an
opportunity to take a break from the
learning and refresh before continuing. The
brain break will be 5 minutes. https://channelstore.roku.com/details/274790/gonoodle

of-encouragement-for-kids-motivation/
Class Chant!!
At the beginning of the semester I
will introduce a chant. The chant
will be “We’re all in this together”
meaning that whatever you go
through I’ll be here for you. I want
my classroom to be a place of
encouragement and inclusion. By
saying this chant it will demonstrate We’re all in
that we’re all here for each other this together!!
and will motivate one another to do
our best in the classroom. I would
have this as a classroom job so the
student for the week will have the
honor of initiating it throughout the
week. The student will initiate the
chant and the rest of the class will
repeat it.
Class Ticket System
In order to keep motivation in the classroom, I want to
create a class ticket system. This will be used as a way
for students to practice good citizenship characteristics
such as being nice to one another, helping others out, Saw you doing something
being on time to class, good behavior outside of the SPECTACULAR!!!
classroom (lunch time, hallways, restroom, etc), and
putting others before self. Each time I see someone
doing one of these things then they will be given
classroom cash. They will put their name on it and
enter it into the ticket chest. At the end of each week I
will draw one name from the chest and they will be
able to pick out a small gift or privilege from the
drawer. The prizes will be small items such as cool
pencils, erasers, stickers, and more. The privileges will
consist of eating lunch with the teacher, a do over on Name: _________________________
an assignment, and extra time on a homework
assignment. After each drawing, I will empty out the
chest of names so each week will be new. I will also
keep a clip board of everyone’s names drawn so there
will be no repetitive names.
Encouragement

Encouragement Circle starters:

“I noticed”
“I like how you”

On Thursdays, we will have an encouragement

circle time where students will go around and
have to say one positive thing about the person
next to them. It’s important for students to
understand the power of their words and
having them go around and say one positive
thing about their neighbor will create the
continuing sense of community.
Encouragements will start with “I noticed” or “I
like how you” and then they can finish off the
statement with something the student is good
at, what they saw them do in the classroom, or
aspects of their personality that are
appreciated. It’s important for students to be
seen and heard from their fellow peers and feel
like their friends do appreciate them. This is a
way for students to feel motivated and will be
introduced the first day of class so students can
see how it works.
