Short Vowels

 Produced by a short sound.


 “eh”

 Schwa sound
 A schwa sound is a vowel sound not
prominently or distinctly heard bc it’s
overpowered by the consonant.
 Initial = sound heard at the beginning of a word
 Medial sound = sound found in the middle of
the word
 Capital I = short i  Last sound = the final sound
 Y is sounded as the short I

All short sounds are produced shortly or abruptly

 “Ah”  Ugh
 The way you produce the word is a little 
slanted.

 Open your mouth and as you produce the sun,
the tongue is found on the lower part of the
teeth
