Activity Nr 2:

1. If a case in the barangay is already under litigation, can the ADR can take cognizance of

the case for settlement, Explain, why.

Answer: Yes, because once a case is already under litigation it is no longer under the barangay official’s
responsibility. The case is then moved up to the court for settlement and cannot be converted back to
the barangay level once under litigation.

2. Define barangay as a community.

Answer: Barangay is the smallest or the basic political unit or community in the Philippine
Administrative Division. It is composed of a Punong Barangay and 7 other Sangguniang Barangay
Members.

3. Differentiate Persons in Authority and Agent of Persons in Authority.

Answer: A Person in Authority is someone who has been appointed or elected to have authority and has
the power and responsibility to lead and command in the maintenance of peace and order such as
Punong Barangay. While Agents of Persons in Authority is any person who comes to aid or assistance to
the person in authority with the same goal which is to protect and secure the life and property in a
barangay such as Barangay Tanod.
