April 28, 2020.
Differences
- The IEEE codes are based more on publications, paper resolutions or research, whereas the
college of engineers is based on professional ethics
- IEEE codes are based more on what should be done, whereas the college of engineers is
based on restrictions, which should not be done.
Ethical codes, formed from both sides
1. Accept responsibility for engineering decisions consistent with the safety, health, and
welfare of persons, and not performing acts of bad faith that conflict with good
engineering, or for culpable omissions, even when acting on the orders of authorities or
principals
2. Reject bribes in all their forms, also do not execute tasks knowing that they generate
malice and harm society
3. Avoiding injury to others, attributing or awarding ideas, plans or technical documents
that are not of authorship
4. Assist colleagues and co-workers in their professional development, but not to allow
the violation or breach of the Law of Professional Practice of Engineering by them.
5. To treat fairly all persons, without distinction of factors and not to renounce or ignore
the rights and benefits that the Law confers and defines to our professionals and workers.
