UNIT 1: TOPIC 1 (Assignment)

Answer all the questions written bellow:

1. What is Tourism?

 The whole of the phenomena and interactions originating from non-


residents' travel and stay, in so far as they do not lead to permanent
residence and are unrelated to any earning activity.

 Tourism is defined as the transitory short-term migration of people to


locations other than where they regularly live and work, as well as their
activities while in these locations.

 Tourism can be defined as a set of activities chosen at random and


carried out outside of one's local surroundings.

2. What is Hospitality?

 Hospitality refers to the relationship between a guest and a host in


which the host receives the guest with some level of kindness,
including the reception and entertainment of guests, visitors, or
strangers.

3. Explain the relationship of needs, wants, and motives to travel.

 To satisfy a need there is energy with a corresponding direction.


Hunger and thirst are two instances of needs. The reason for desiring
to travel is an inner motive related to the question of why, whilst more
concrete motives influence the replies regarding where and style of
vacation.
4. Define the different types of pleasure/personal traveler.

 PSYCHOCENTRIC

These tourists are usually uninterested in trying new things. They


prefer to return to familiar travel destinations where they can unwind
and know what kinds of meals and activities to expect. They prefer to
travel by car, stay in traditional lodgings, and dine at family-style
eateries.

 ALLOCENTRIC

These tourists are looking for new adventures and experiences in a


variety of activities. They are outgoing and self-assured in their actions.
They are the person who is loves to fly and explore new and odd
regions before others. They like meeting people from many cultures,
both foreign and domestic. They prefer quality hotels and meals, but
not necessarily modern or chain hotels.

 MIDCENTRIC

These tourists fall somewhere in between the two groups are included
in this category.
