Introduction and Background of the Study:
Management information system (MIS) is a system that provides information needed to manage
organizations effectively. Management information systems involve three primary resources:
technology, information, and people. It's important to recognize that while all three resources are
key components when studying management information systems, the most important resource is
people. Management information systems are regarded as a subset of the overall internal controls
procedures in a business, which cover the application of people, documents, technologies, and
procedures used by management accountants to solve business problems such as costing a
product, service or a business-wide strategy. Management information systems are distinct from
regular information systems in that they are used to analyze other information systems applied in
operational activities in the organization. Academically, the term is commonly used to refer to the
group of information management methods tied to the automation or support of human decision
making, e.g. Decision Support Systems, Expert systems, and Executive information systems.

There are many types of information management systems in the market that provide a wide
range of benefits for companies.

 Transaction processing systems (TPS) collect and record the routine transactions of an
organization. Examples of such systems are sales order entry, hotel reservations, payroll,
employee record keeping, and shipping.
 Management information systems (MIS) produce fixed, regularly scheduled reports based
on data extracted and summarized from the firm’s underlying transaction processing
systems (TPS) to middle and operational level managers to provide answers to structured
and semi-structured decision problems.

 Decision-support systems (DSS) are computer program applications used by middle

management to compile information from a wide range of sources to solve problems and
make decisions.

 Executive support systems (ESS) is a reporting tool that provides quick access to
summarized reports coming from all company levels and departments such as accounting,
human resources and operations.

In this project, theoretical framework is used to evaluate the management information system
concepts of KS Group.

Since the 1980’s, a new concept of community living and property ownership has evolved in
Bangladesh and this concept has resulted in a new made of property ownership-Apartment-and
Commercial Spaces. This now concept of property ownership has emerged out of a need to cope
with and escalating demand for urban housing, office accommodation, investment options,
security, and cost-benefit. With the dawn of the new millennium, Dhaka is slowly transforming
into a Mega City and in this process, is facing tremendous population growth, high density of
traffic, and toxic levels of air and noise pollution. As a result, an exodus to areas of low
population density, traffic congestion, air and noise pollution in forthcoming.

Taking this into consideration, KS Group, a Company formed by four Professionals with wide
ranging domestic and international experience and committed to quality and excellence, started
introducing quality apartments and commercial spaces in relatively less crowded areas of the city
of reasonable price.

The ultimate vision of our company is to produce high quality product, gives the clients the best
customer service and become the most profitable as well reliable company in the this industry.
This will be achieved through top quality work and after-sales service (the mission).

Statement of the Problem:

This report will investigate the MIS practices of Bangladeshi organizations generally and MIS
practices of KS group. The problem stated above is that current performance of management
information system is satisfactory but how can done this total service level more satisfactory level
