Experiences I had dealing with government agencies

Year 2020 has been really the most challenging year for me and for everyone.
From the volcanic eruptions, countless earthquakes in the country, strong typhoons that
nearly washed-out an entire province in the Philippines, the issue about the homicide
case of the policeman in Tarlac and the spread of the Corona virus. The cause of these
phenomena resulted into people struggling not just physically but also mentally that it
killed almost half of the population in the country.
The role of the national government is very important when it comes to these kinds
of emergencies. This is where the capabilities of the people seated in the senate will be
tested and examined. It is their responsibility to ensure that the country and its
countrymen are safe and well taken care of. The people of the Philippines might try to
survive independently but they will still need to rely on the government for full support.
As a person who has access on social medias, who is always online and socially
aware of what was happening both in our country and the other, I have witnessed the
incompetency of our own government in handling the problems we experienced last year
2020—and still experiencing up until now. First problem is their response on the outbreak
of the corona virus—which they could have atleast prevented to spread widely across the
country and could have wiped out in a span of 2-3 months. They still allowed flights
entering our area—especially in China where the first case was detected, even though
we already have active cases on the said virus. Second is their response on the typhoon
Ulysses. The support given by the government is very poor, it is noticeable that they are
still not ready for this kind of threat knowing that we already have experienced this multiple
times in the past. The number of families who suffered from loss in the province of
Cagayan Valley are very large—which could have been mitigated also if the national
government has concrete plans.
Across the social medias and television news I saw local people, creating ways on
how to atleast help the people of Cagayan to survive from day to day basis through
donation drives. University organizations also participated in helping our people in
Cagayan. Yes, it is heartwarming to see local citizens helping each other but my
disappointment from the government also grows bigger. It is not the local citizens
responsibility to help others in this kind of disaster, it is our national government’s duty
but sadly they were nowhere to be found.
When it comes to our Local government here in Cavite, our governor Jonvic
Remulla handled everyone at ease and without putting stress and pressure to the people.
The rules are followed and everyone is monitored properly in all of the subdivisions and
establishments. The mayors were also good at handling their respective city. The
donations were distributed properly and the problems arising in different areas were taken
care of immediately. My family were also safe and luckily no one in our household caught
the virus. I just wish good things shall happen sooner.
