ENGLISH VII – QUARTER 1 MODULE 2 (ACTIVE AND PASSIVE VOICES)

Now, let’s evaluate how well you have understood the lesson “ACTIVE AND PASSIVE
VOICES”. Be sure to carefully read and follow the directions. Are you ready?

A. Tell whether the following sentences is in active or passive voice. Write “ACTIVE” if
the statement is in active voice and “PASSIVE” if it is in passive voice. Write your
answer on your activity sheet/notebook.

1. The monkey climbed the trees.


2. The apple was eaten by the birds.
3. I wrote an excuse letter yesterday.
4. My pet was taken away by my brother.
5. The cake was eaten by my classmates.
6. Ken buys new cellphone.
7. My dog was bathed by my brother.
8. Mary throws the garbage.
9. This poem was written by my ancestors.

B. This time, apply and test your knowledge of active and passive voice with this
grammar exercises. Each sentence given below is in active voice. Change it into
passive voice. Choose only 5 out of 8 sentences.
Example: Sofia watered the flowers.
Answer: The flowers were watered by Sofia.

10. I love my mother.


11. I bought plenty of candies yesterday.
12. They write beautiful songs.
13. Anna kisses her beloved sister.
14. She carried my heavy bag.
I watch the birds flying.
Mama cooked good food.
The farmers harvested their crops.

C. PRACTICE MAKES PERFECT!


15. Outside your house, be a keen observer. Construct different kinds of sentences either
active or passive by using the object that you see on the surroundings. Create at least
3 sentences of active voices and another 2 sentences of passive voices. Select from
your constructed sentences the highlight of your observation. Write it on your activity
sheet/notebook. Easy right? This will only prove how exceptional you are in using the
active and passive voices in different manners.
