HEALTH, NUTRITION AND SAFETY

INDIVIDUAL ACTIVITY

1. During the last month, numerous storms or typhoons have been passing on our country making
devastating and catastrophic results on its wake. Schools around the country especially the ones
in public were serving as evacuation centers, How can you help make your school resilient in
times of calamities?
2. Environmental disasters such as these typhoons poses major risks in education, it hampers
classes, destroys or damages facilities, puts the school community in a hazardous environment;
as an aspiring teacher, you may be well on your way experiencing ground level situations
wherein you must be able to ensure learning continuity even if you yourself are experiencing the
same things as your learners, how do you think you can handle that kind of situation, how can
you balance your responsibilities and handle your stressful environment?
3. Sometimes, plans don’t always work the way they were meant to, no matter how much effort
we’ve put unto it, nature’s wrath will always find a way to negate your safety plans, and you will
be forced to a school recovery approach, what can you do to efficiently and quickly help your
school community recover to put the school’s educational environment back to normal?
4. Do you think it’s important that we add safety preparedness in our curriculum at an earlier
stage, currently the earliest subject that teaches disaster preparedness is at the Senior High
School Level, would it make a difference if somehow disaster preparedness can be integrated in
the curriculum as early as junior high school, can it make a difference for our learners?
5. Have you ever experienced volunteer work in responding to calamities? Share your experiences
and observation?
6. Have you ever been an evacuee? Share your experiences and how does it help you more
understand the importance of our course not only in school but also in real life?

Natural disasters and how it alters our way of life and its impact on our education
Amidst the seemingly unending challenges that this year have been giving us, what life lessons you
can take from it about the importance of your SAFETY, HEALTH AND NUTRITION which you can
impart on your future learners.

PART II.
Conduct a research about the effects of natural calamities and its adverse effects in education, the
direct effects on us teachers and our learners. Include photos that you may find during the typhoons
that have passed this past month.

Add some pictures (cite the source if taken through social media or other platforms)
How does these calamities affect the health of the learners.
What are your observations?
What can you do as a teacher? How can you shift your safety and emergency plan into recovery?
