Employee Relations and Grievance Machinery

Pillars of Employee Relations

 Investing in Employees
Discovering the things that make employees happy such as their hobbies can build
positive employee relations. This type of employee relations can really help in the
success and progress of the company. We can call this a “give and take”, where the
company and employees benefit from each other. This can also lead to a good
relationship to both the employees and employer in the entire organization. Investing
an employee development boosts your bottom line and can help them perform at their
highest level.

Approach to Discipline

 Positive/Corrective Discipline
This is my most preferred approach where it is viewed as future-oriented, as it involves
working with employees to solve problems not to occur again. This positive attribute can
increase morale, self- discipline, additional training, and better attitudes from the
employees. The use of this can also increase productivity and vision, and at the same
time reduce the fear of punishment, which allows employees to take risks to advance
the organization. It is also crucial to a workplace as it ensures employees behave in a
decent way and also maintain orderliness of the workplace.

The Disciplinary Process

For example, I live in a rural area which is far from the urban area where my company
that I was working are located. Most of my arrival time at the workplace are 10-15
minutes late which is against the rules and policy of the company but my manager
always considers it until he noticed that this thing is always happening. He took an
action to talk to me and give a verbal warning. Verbal warning is a simple comment by a
manager or supervisor to warn employees that certain acts are not acceptable to ensure
that employees know what is expected of them and what they are doing is wrong. After
taking this action, employee was warned and will do solution to take a corrective action
against their violation.
