1. Predictions about the future (predviđanja) - WILL

I think (don’t think) the President will be re-elected.

2. Assumptions about the present (pretpostavke o sadašnjosti)

– WILL/WILL BE + VERB +-ING/WILL HAVE + PAST PARTICIPLE

(Future Simple/Future Continuous/Future Perfect Simple)

It’s 3.30. Right now, Jim will be on his way home.

It’s 8.40. Carol will be driving to work.

I think Emily will have left office by now. (pretpostavka o završenoj radnji!)

3. When something is certain (sigurno)

MUST – His door is locked. He must be away.

4. When something is impossible (nemoguće)

CAN’T - His car is outside. He can’t be away.

He couldn’t be away.

5. When something is possible (moguće)

MAY/MIGHT/COULD – Where is Max? He could be playing tennis.

It may rain later, so we might not go outside. (mightn’t)

6. Our opinion that something will probably happen (kada mi smatramo da će se nešto desiti)

SHOULD – I should be home by 6 o’clock.

7. Other ways to express probability

be bound to – it is certain (kada je nešto sigurno)

The score is 4-0. They are bound to win.

chances are – it is very probable (kada je nešto veoma verovatno)

Chances are I won’t do the second English test.

be likely – probable Is it likely to rain tomorrow?
