Philosophy

MSU System is committed to the total development of man and to the search for truth,
virtue and academic excellence.
Vision
Vision

MSU System aspires to be a center of Excellence and Instruction, Research and


Extension transforming itself into a premier and globally competitive national peace
university.
Mission

MSU System is committed to:

1. Lead in social transformation through peace education and integration of the


Muslims and other cultural minority groups into the mainstream society;
2. Ensure excellence in instruction, research development, innovation, extension,
and environmental education and discovery;
3. Advance national and international linkages through collaborations and,
4. Demonstrates greater excellence, relevance and inclusiveness for Mindanao
and the Filipino nation.

MSU-Main Campus Goals

The MSU–Main Campus is committed to:

1. Promote and strengthen academic excellence in all level of education to produce


graduates who are competent to meet future needs of humankind;
2. Enhance the visibility of the University through production of high-impact
researchers and innovation;
3. Respond to globalization trends through partnership and collaborative
relationships with national and international universities, research institutions, and
industries;
4. Secure and preserve the University resources and facilities;
5. Integrate peace education programs in the University curricula;
6. Strengthen and sustain extension services
7. Transform the University through investments in human resources development,
infrastructures, and equipment

MSU-Main Campus Objectives

1. Promote and strengthen academic excellence in all levels of education:


➢ Make the curriculum relevant to the needs of humankind;
➢ Support Faculty Development in graduate and post-graduate programs in
esteemed national and international academic institutions;
➢ Upgrade instructional facilities and equipment;
➢ Achieve Accreditation or Certificate of the different degree programs of the
university to become Centers of Development and/or Centers of Excellence;
➢ Nurture students’ critical thinking to be innovative, skilled and productive
learners.
2. Enhance the visibility of University through production of high-impact researches and
innovations:
➢ Require faculty to publish researches and patent inventions
➢ Enforce niche building programs;
➢ Strengthen in- house reviews and other training programs;
➢ Create international peer-reviewed journals;
➢ Undertake high-impact, world-leading, and innovative research;
➢ Establish and strengthen University Research Centers.
3. Respond to globalization trends through partnership and collaborative relationships
with national and international universities, research institutions, and industries:
➢ Generate programs geared towards ASEAN and global integration;
➢ Link programs with educational institutions, industries, and other
stakeholders;
➢ Organize national and international conferences, seminars, and other similar
engagements;
➢ Become and authority and sources of innovative technology and scientific
knowledge;
➢ Acquire necessary information and technologies for global recognition;
➢ Level up the financial and logistic support for partnership and collaborative
programs;
4. Secure and preserve the University resources and facilities:
➢ Strategize approaches for managing and securing the University resources and
facilities;
➢ Allocate all unused lands for the establishment of relevant projects;
➢ Formulate an efficient and sustainable land use policies and management plan;
➢ Establish a Land Use and Control Office to secure and preserve the properties
of the University;
5. Integrate peace education in the various programs of the university;
➢ Promote peace consciousness and culture sensitivity;
➢ Establish and enforce conflict resolution mechanisms;
➢ Advocate participatory and inclusive peace programs across different sectors;

➢ Cultivate the culture of peace among University constituents and the
surrounding communities;
➢ Encourage multi-stakeholders peace-building efforts for sustainable peace and
development in Mindanao.
6. Strengthen and sustain extension services;
➢ Strategically build partnership and collaborations with the community for
resource generation;
➢ Enhance technology generation and transfer for poverty alleviation in
countryside;
➢ Restore trust and confidence among extortionists through effective and
efficient delivery of services;
➢ Value socio-cultural, political, and environmental safeguards;
➢ Effectively design information, education, and communication (IEC) materials
and mechanisms for extension services.
7. Transform the university through investment in human resource development,
infrastructures, and equipment;
➢ Improve professional and personal development among faculty and staff;
➢ Nurture and strengthen the culture of fairness and objectivity in recruitment,
retention and promotion of faculty and staff;
➢ Viably invest in faculty and students exchange programs with nationally and
internationally recognized institutions;
➢ Equip the University with world-class instructional facilities and equipment;
➢ Sustain infrastructure projects in the university;
➢ Translate University research and innovation outputs into income generating
projects (IGP).
MSU Charter Mandate

As enshrined in the original Charter (RA 1387-Appendix No.A), MSU is mandated on


the following (MSU-Annual Reports):

1. Educate the youth of Mindanao, Sulu and Palawan (MINSUPALA) by offering


degree programs in various fields of learning;
2. Support businesses and industries in the region by providing their manpower
requirements; and
3. Integrate the Muslims and other cultural minorities into the mainstream of national
life;
4. MSU is an affirmative action policy instrument for the multi-culturists integration
of Muslims and other cultural minorities into the mainstream of national life;
5. MSU is a policy instruments to capacitate the Muslims and other minority cultural
communities to catch up with the more advanced regions in the country;
6. MSU has a peace building mandate, with most of its campuses located in conflict
affected areas in Mindanao;
7. MSU campuses are residential university entailing huge maintenance and operating
expenses.

Derive from the MSU Charter Mandate, MSU-MAIN is a community characterized


by “Unity in Diversity” motivated with the following core values:

1. Mutual Respect, the university stakeholders and constituents respect d understand


individual regardless of race, culture, and religion.
2. Service Orientedness, the university stakeholders provides efficient and effective
services.
3. Unity and teamwork, the university stakeholders collaboratively exercise in all
aspects in to national and global standards, interlink with colleagues and in other
academic institutions, government, and industry through sharing and collaboration of
knowledge expertise and skills towards career development and job placement.
4. Multiculturalism with Means-tested Benefits, acceptance and tolerance of other
cultures geared towards social welfare and development.
5. Academic Excellence, the university maintain its highest standard of excellence both
in academic and service performance as it’s mandated through instruction, research,
extension, community services, peace development, innovations, production,
entrepreneurship, and globalization.
6. Integrity and Trustworthiness, the university lead with Transparency, Respect,
Understanding, Service and Teamwork (TRUST) in upholding public trust, Different
activities are or will be performed with the highest standard of honesty, accountability
and transparency.
7. Nobility and Professionalism, the university ensure strong camaraderie’s among
stakeholders, intellectual discourse among other colleagues is encouraged upholding
the great ideals of ethical behaviour and genuine understanding with each other.
