environment such as utilization, capacity, and performance. OCI can also be used

analysis before and after migration to identify the suitability of the workload migration.

Overview of Application Discovery Services

The AWS Application Discovery Services has in-built functionality for the analysis of

virtual and physical computing environments. The tool provides the requisite information for the

success of cloud migration through increased visibility. It uses the migration tracking console –

AWS Migration Hub – which stores all discovered data. Application Discovery Service APIs are

useful for viewing data utilization and system performance as well as grouping applications for

discovered servers. Application Discovery Service collects server data through agent-based and

agentless discovery. Agent-based discovery is performed when WS Application Discovery Agent

has been deployed in physical servers and virtual machines. Agentless discovery utilizers the

AWS agentless discovery connector to collect static configuration data, including mac addresses,

hostnames, and disk revenue allocations. It is noteworthy that AWS application discovery

services can aid the importation of on-premises environments directly through the integration of

AWS Partner Network (APN) partners.

AWS Application Discovery Services: Usability

The combination of Application Discovery Service with AWS Migration Hub simplifies

tracking on a single console. It facilitates tracking of migration statuses and storage of

discovered server data and grouped based on the application. It allows for data export into data

management software such as Microsoft Excel and other tools, including Amazon QuickSight

and Amazon Athena. It allows for exporting utilization and system performance data hence

facilitating the computation of server running costs. AWS' Application Discovery Services
