PNP Anti-Cybercrime Group joins DepEd probe into 'online cheating'.

The Philippine National Police (PNP) Anti-Cybercrime Group (ACG) has joined the Department of
Education (DepEd) in investigating reports on alleged online cheating of students during distance
learning.

In a statement on Tuesday, PNP chief Police General Guillermo Eleazar ordered the ACG to coordinate
with the DepEd on the probe. Eleazar’s order came after Education Secretary Leonor Briones said she
would seek help from the authorities in investigating the issue.

According to initial reports, students have been sharing the answers to their exams in Facebook groups.
The PNP chief added that the National Bureau of Investigation is already doing a separate investigation
into the alleged cheating as well.

Millions of South Africans caught up in security incident after debt recovery firm suffers ‘significant
data breach’

More than a million South African citizens have potentially had their personal data exposed after a
ransomware attack at a debt recovery services firm.

The company in question, Debt-IN Consultants, confirmed this week that it had been the victim of a
cyber-attack which resulted in a “significant data breach” of consumer and employee personal
information.

More than 1.4 million South Africans are suspected to have been impacted by the incident, after Debt-IN
says their data was illegally accessed from servers in April this year.

Compromised information may include customer names and contact details, employment and salary
information, and debt-related information including payments and balance owed to Debt-IN.
