a) Sketch a graph of the data, using years since 1990 as the values
of the independent variable.

b) If x represents the number of years since 1990 (with 1990 being

year 0), write the polynomial equation that models the data.

f(3) = 54

54/54 = a

Therefore, f(x) = 1(x-9) (x-2) (x-12)
