MILITARY SPECIFICATION
INDICATOR, LIQUID OXYGEK QUANTITY GMU-37/A
1. SCOPE
1.1 This specification covers one type of liquid oxygen quantity
indicator designated Type OMU-37/A. Tne indicator is of the capacitance
type and indicates from 0 to 5 liters of liquid oxygen.
2. APPLICABLE DOCUMENTS
2.1 The following docunents, of the issue in effect on date of
invitetion for bide or request far proposal, form @ part of this
specification to the extent specified herein.

3_ REQUIREMENTS
3el QUALIFIGATION,~ The indicator furnished under thie specification
shall’ be a product which has been tested, and passed the qualification
tests specified herein, and has been listed on or approved for listing on
the applicable qualified products list.
3e2 GENERAL SPECIFICATION.- The reguirenents of MIL-I-256L5 shall
apply as requirements of this specification with the exceptions and
additions called out herein, When the two specifications conflict, this
specification shall govern,
3.3 CONFIGURATION.- The indicator shell consist of a single unit
containing all of the equipnent necessary to meet the performance
requirenents specified nerein and in MiL~1-256u5.
3.4L CASE.- The length of the case shall not exceed 5,0 inches.
3.5 DIAL,- The dial for the indicator shall conform to figure 1,
3.6 ELECTRICAL CONNECTOR. The electrical connector shall be in
accordance with figure 2, The indicator shall be designed intersally
eo that it will function properly when the meting electrical connector
is wired ae shown on figure 2.
3.7 CAPACITANCE,- For design purposes, the capacitance for zero
reading shall be 63,5 micromicrofarad (wuf),
328 ADJUSTMENTS.- The sero calibration adjustment for the
indicator shall be capable of adjusting the pointer to zero indication
over an input capacitance range of at least 60.0 uuf to 67,0 uuf, With
‘the indicator adjusted to zero indication at 60,0 uuf input capacitance,
the indicator shall be capable of calibration to full scale indication
at 69,0 uf input capacitance by means of the full calibration adjustment,
With the indicator adjusted to zero indication at 67.0 uuf input,
capacitance, the indicator sball be capable of calibration to full scale
indication at 96.0 uuf 4nput capacitance by means of the full calibration
adjustnent.
3.9 WEIGHT.= The indicator shall weigh not more than 1.5 pounds.MIL-I-27882a (USAF)

3.10 ACCURACY.~ When the indicator set is tested in accordance with
MIL-1-256l5, the accuracy of the indicator shall be in accordance with
table I, The tolerance for roon-tenperature readings is the allovable
deviation fron the nominal calculated values. All other tolerances are
the allowable deviations from the actual roon-tenperature readings.

3.11 POWER SUPPLY VARIATION.~ Variations of supply voltage from 105 volts
to 125 volts ani frequencies of 320 to 80 cycles per second shall not cause
indicator errors cxccoding those opecified in table I when the indicator is
tested as specified in MII-J-2561:5. For the 105-volt test point, the indleator
shall be checked at frequencies of 320 ani L480 cycles per second. For the
125-volt test point, the indicator shall be checked at frequencies of 320 art
60 cycles per second.
3.12 INTEGRAL LIGHTING.~ The indicater shall have integral lighting in
accordance with MII-1-27160.
lu, QUALITY ASSURANCE PROVISIONS
4.2 RESPONSIBILITY FOR INSPECTION.- Unless otherwise epecified in the
contract or purchase order, the supplier is responsible for the performance
of all inspection requirenents as specified herein. Except as otherwise
specified, the supplier may utilice his on facilities or any commercial
laboratory acceptable to the Government. The Governnent reserves the right
to perform any of the inspection set farth in the specification where such
inspections are deened necessary to assure supplies ani services conforn te

4,2 SAMPLING, INSPECTING, AND TESTING.- Sampling, inspecting, and
testing of indicators shall be in accordance with MII-1-256L5.
3 QUAL ING
61 QUALIFICATION TEST SAMPLE TESTED EY THE CONTRACTOR.- The
contractor shall eubject ene indicater to the qualification teste specified
an 32k.
4.3.2 QUALIFICATION TEST REPORT.- After the contractor cempletes the
qualification teste, he shall prepare a qualification test report in
accordance with MIL-S1D-631 and shall furnish three complete copies of the
report to the qualifying activity.
1.3.3 QUALIFICATION TEST SAMPLE FOR THE QUALIFYING ACTIVITE.- Along
with the qualification test report, the contractor shall submit the
indicater that was tested as specified in l.3.1.
.3.b QUALIFICATION TESTS.- Qualification teste shall consist of all
tests described under Test Methods of MIL-i-25645.
L.3.5 QUALIFICATION RELIABILITY TESTS.- One qualification sample of
the equipmem shall be tested by the contractor for reliability and shall
be contimed through a longevity test in accordance with I1-R-26667.
Duration of the mean cycles between feilures (M0BF) demonstration test on
each unit shall not be less than three tines the specified MOBF. Recording,
data handling, and reporting procedures shall be in accordance with
MIL-R-26667,
5S. PREPARATION FOR DELIVERY
5.1 The inddeator shall be prepared for delivery in accordance with
MIL= 1225615.
6, NOTES
6.1 INTENDED USE.- The indicator covered by thie specification is
intended fer use in imiicating the quantity of liguid oxygen remaining in
converters in F=5A and C-1L? airplanes.
6.2 ORDERING DATA.- Procurensnt documents should specify the following:

6.3. QUALIFICATION.- With respect to preducts requiring qualification,
awards will be made only for such preducts as have, prior te the tine set
for opening of bids, been tested and approved for inclusion in the
applicable Qualified Products List whether or not such products have
actually been so listed by that date. The attention of the suppliers is
called to this requirement, and manufacturers are urged to arrange to have
the products that they propose to offer to the Federal Government tested
for qualification in order that they may be eligible to be awarded contracts
or orders fer the products covered by this specification, Tne activity
