Hello to all and welcome. It givens me immense pride and goosebumps to be standing
here amongst the best and delivering a speech. And the theme would be how
technology has changed and how it has impacted the macro environment

Human development has been spurred by changes in technology. But so has inequality.
Today's staggering inequalities began to appear with the industrial revolution. Only a
few countries currently create frontier technologies, but all countries need to prepare for
them. New digital technologies would diffuse more and more into the economy. Due to
this digitization, machines have become increasingly able to perform tasks that
previously only humans could do and it is an ongoing debate whether machines would
be able to replace humans completely.

2030 is a good time to reflect on a decade of new apps, devices, innovations, and tech-
driven societal shifts that have radically changed the way we live our day-to-day lives,
for better or worse. If you take a trip back through 20 years of technology, much of
which it's now hard to imagine living without. In 2010, the iPad ushered in an entirely
new category of computing devices. Initially it was considered to be a luxury product
from a branded company to cater to the material needs of a particular strata of the
society. Having an Ipad would be a sign of social status and only a few could afford to.
But what do I see now? I see at-least 10 of you here clicking my pictures with an Ipad.

Instagram got a billion-dollar boost of Facebook cash in 2012, and has since evolved
into a much different experience than it was at its inception in October 2010. With the
range of photo editing features we all have become amateur photographers and
changed the way we experience and share our lives with the world outside. Thereafter,
Amazon Web Services launched its cloud-computing platform in 2006, but the 2010s
are when the market exploded, becoming the core infrastructure underlying the modern
internet and all our digital experiences. After that, it’s time to talk about the most
powerful technological innovation of 2010, the smartphone brand Nexus, today known
as Google Pixel. Today's powerful line of pixel phones consistently outshine competitors
like the iPhone on features like camera quality and AI-infused user experience. The
quench for a more upgraded network system, the 2010-2011 came out with the idea of
4G network technology. It created the opportunity for apps like Uber, Spotify, Google
Maps, Twitter, Snapchat, and countless more to exist and thrive. How can I not talk
about the creation of Google assistant under the domain of digitization. Google
Assistant is perhaps the closest thing yet to what's known as general artificial
intelligence. With a dose of humour it can instantly translate spoken words into 27
different languages.

Shifting my focus 2020 till date, there have been radical changes again. Back when I
was graduating like you people are right now India used to be a developing country. But
now it is developed. People have shifted from stock markets to crypto markets and are
getting 200% returns on an average. In January of 2021, the world’s first artificial cornea
was implanted into a 78year blind person. This has become a regular operation now.
Food delivery systems are delivering through drones. Smartwatches are now sweat
powered. Therefore, don’t stop running!
Back in out times, we had two popular jargons when we talked about technology. It was
AR(Augmented Reality) and VR( Virtual Reality). Now there is a tactile virtual reality.

How many of you are wearing heart rate monitoring t-shirts? A raise of hands? If
anyone told me that a decade ago, I would be confident that he is lying

Two Fintech guys have developed an international remittance system. Credit card
payments have become 100 percent secure, thanks to the implementation of Python.

And to end it with a bang, Elon Musk has taken a trip to Mars and proposes to take the
first crew within 2-3 years.

Technological change has had little effect on the aggregate number of jobs but has lead
to significant restructuring of them. Manual work is being replaced by tech-driven work
and therefore you should never stop upskilling yourselves. The workers’ fate in the labor
market crucially depends on how well he keeps pace with the continuous inventions of
new technologies. Moreover, digitization offers alternative work arrangements due to
changes in policies and expansion of online platforms. Many think technology has made
people better informed – but has also made it easier to manipulate. According to me it
has made people more divided, yet sometimes more accepting of others.
A survey report claimed a median of 58% say access to mobile phones, the internet and
social media has made people more divided in their political opinions and at the same
time, a median of 52% say these technologies have made people more accepting of
those who have different views than they do. Perhaps the most obvious way that
technology impacts politics is as a tool for political actors such as politicians,
governments and other organizations to better identify, engage with and rally members
of the public to their cause, as well as broadcast political messaging. Technology has
become a topic of political discussion and campaign platform. The most crucial side of
this discussion includes the accessibility of the internet by all. Many areas of the world,
even in some highly developed countries such as the United States, lack access to
high-speed internet and this inequity begets more inequity.

Another political hot topic is the regulation of major tech companies who are growing
more and more powerful. Companies such as Google, Facebook, Amazon or Apple are
more powerful than many countries in the world, and so the interest of these corporate
bodies is also a common topic on the campaign trail.

Despite being a source of class division, technology is a great equalizer. It brings the
rich and poor alike on the same platform. Research proves that the more formal and
organized a workforce is, the better is a country's development parameters. However,
most of India's economy is presently informal and unorganized. A particular study has
shown that India can save thousands of crores if it moves into a cashless (or minimal
cash) economy which can be utilized for the betterment of many societal backlashes.
Making this issue a vision, the Reserve Bank of India has launched Unified Payments
Interface (UPI) to move towards a more digital country.

The advanced technologies help firms to expand their market with the use of new
technologies. Expansion in the market will need more workforce to manage the
activities, hence it will generate employment at the firm level. Today, social media,
gaming and other forms of digital communication play a big part in children and young
people’s leisure time. With the help of Facebook, Instagram and other social networking
sites young people are being with opportunities to connect with friends and family and
develop technical and creative skills. These sites facilitate connection to a diverse and
widespread group of people, providing a greater understanding of global issues.
Technology provides information about a range of physical and psychological health
problems of relevance to young people, which may lead to a positive benefit in terms of
promoting engagement with health-care services. The lives of children and young
people who have access to media technology and who take advantage of opportunities
such as these could be enriched, especially where this access is in the context of other
life experiences and opportunities that promote social interaction, learning and exercise.
Alongside advantages of using IT, there are some serious drawbacks and cyberbullying
is one of them. There is evidence of a consistent relationship between cyberbullying and
depression and some studies show associations with other mental health problems.

Emerging technologies, such as industrial robots, artificial intelligence, and machine

learning, are advancing at a rapid pace. These developments can improve the speed,
quality, and cost of goods and services, but they also displace large numbers of
workers. In the restaurant industry, firms are using technology to remove humans from
parts of food delivery. Some places, for example, are using tablets that allow customers
to order directly from the kitchen with no requirement of talking to a waiter or waitress.

I hope you all get how crucial a driver can technology be. You may get answers to most
of the things in Google, but it will never have the answer of what your passion lies in.
Therefore, my friends, a perfect CGPA is only a booster. Know where your passion lies
and follow it and in the future one of you from here might be standing in my place.

Thank you.
