My Personal Technology Position Statement

Technology has become part of our everyday life. From traditional devices such
as alarm clocks to new technologies such as smartwatches, technology is at our
fingertips all the time. Students are exposed to all this technology at a critical time of
development. As an educator, I need to take advantage of this availability of resources
and use technology to help enhance students’ education and support in creating Global
Citizens. Using the potential of technology and interactive media intentionally will
strengthen students’ knowledge, analyze skills, stimulate their interest, establish social
norms for interactions online, and increase their proficiency in the use of technology to
support their learning in the classroom.

Aligned with the California Standards for the Teaching Profession


(CSTP’s), I have organized the following principles to guide the use of technology and
interactive media in my classroom:

❖ Engaging and Supporting all students in learning


➢ Ensuring that all students have access to technology at school and home.
➢ Ensuring that all students are adequately prepared to use technology.
➢ Ensuring that all students are engaged in the proper use of technology at
school and home.
➢ Ensuring that all students can communicate their questions, comments,
and concerns regarding technology use.
➢ Ensuring that all students have a deep understanding of appropriate
behaviors in engaging in socializing through the online community.

❖ Creating and maintaining effective environments


➢ Ensuring that all students have definite roles while engaging in the use of
technology.
➢ Ensuring that all students have and understand the rules and expectations
while engaging in the use of technology.
➢ Ensuring that all students have clear rules of appropriate behaviors in
engaging in socializing through the online community.

❖ Understanding and organizing subject matter for student learning


➢ Ensuring that all students have set guidelines for engaging in research of
real-world data and concepts using technology.

❖ Planning instruction and designing learning experiences for all students


➢ Ensuring that all students have adequate time to learn, practice, and
demonstrate their knowledge of skills on the use of technology.
➢ Ensuring that all lessons include a review of how to behave as a Global
Citizen while engaging in the use of the world wide web.
➢ Ensuring that I, as a model Global Citizen behaviors while engaging in the
use of technology and exploring the world wide web.

❖ Assessing students for learning


➢ Ensuring that all students have multiple modes of demonstrating their
knowledge and skills on the use of technology.

❖ Developing as a Professional Educator


➢ Ensuring that as a professional, I attend PLCs, Edcamps, In-services, and
Professional Developments to update, maintain, and gain knowledge to
support students using technology in the classroom to enhance their
learning.
➢ Ensuring that as a professional, I develop, maintain, model, and update set
rules and expectations of appropriate behaviors in engaging in socializing
through the online community.
