CONTEXTUALIZED LESSON PLAN IN ENGLISH (Grade 3)

I. Objective
National competency: Identify and use action words in simple sentences
Contextualized competency: Identify and use action words in simple sentences about
making Binagol in Brgy. Banayon

KBI: Appreciate the nutritional value of Binagol and feel proud of


Dagami’s contribution to the Filipino cuisine

II. Subject Matter


A. Topic : Action Words
B. References : K12 Curriculum Guide for English (EN3G-IIc-3.4)
C. Materials : flash cards, pictures, activity cards
D. Local Heritage Theme : Food and Local Products
E. Concept : Action words are words that show action or
movement. They are called verbs. These action words can
be used in sentences.

III. Procedure

A. Introduction/Presentation

 Teacher tells the class to do the following actions:


 Stand
 Jump
 Clap
 Dance

 Teacher presents the day’s lesson.


Say: Today, we will learn to identify and use action words in simple sentences.

 Teacher presents pictures. Elicit pupils’ prior experiences similar to the pictures shown.
Encourage pupils to share their experiences. As the pupils answer, teacher writes the
answers on the board.

(The man peels the taro/gabi.)

Ask: What does the man do with the firewood?


(The man chops the firewood.)

Ask: What does the woman do with the binagol?


(The woman ties the binagol.)

 Teacher presents the list of underlined words.

Say: These words are called Action Words. They are also called Verbs.
These action words can be also be used in sentences.

Ask: What does this whole set of pictures show or tell us about? (Binagol making)
Do we have a situation similar to these pictures? (Yes)
What do you love most in making Binagol? (It tastes good.)
Do you have friends who like Binagol? Why do they like it?
How do you feel that they like it too?
What will you do so that Binagol making will be continued?

 The man chops the firewood.
 The woman ties the binagol.
 The woman cooks the binagol.
 The boy sellsthe binagol.

Say: The action words can be used in sentences.

B. Modelling

 Teachers presents a list of words.

Look as to how I use these action words or verbs in sentences.


 The girls dance the Tinikling.
 Pupils read the story together.
 I will sing a birthday song for my mother.

C. Guided Practice

1. Directions: Identify the action words in the following sentences,


a. Mother washes the clothes.
b. The boys play sipa in the plaza.
c. Fe sleeps in the bedroom.
d. Joy and Weng wipe the window.
e. You put the pencil on the table.

2. Directions: Form 5 groups. The leader of the group will pick out 3 balls with action
words written on each ball. The group will use these action words in
sentences.

D. Independent Practice

Directions: Look at each picture. Identify the action words shown and be able to use these
words in sentences.

Directions: Use each word in a sentence then underline the action word.

V. Assignment

Cut out a picture that shows action. Paste it on your notebook then write a simple sentence

sentences

 Teacher will use the following nouns in sentences:

Ask: What type of nouns did I used in the sentences?

 Teacher shows pictures of the activities done in school paired with


sentences.

Ask: Do we have nouns here?

Encourage pupils to say sentences about the pictures.

 Say: Nouns like name of persons and events can be used in simple
sentences.

B. Modeling:

 Teacher shows pictures and with sentences then ask for some nouns used in
sentences.

Allow pupils to say sentences with names of person and events familiar to
them.
C. Guided Practice

 Teacher will guide the pupils in using the following words in sentences:

DepEd Night Playground Demonstration

 Teacher will present a picture of Tambalan Festival for pupils to use some
nouns in simple sentences. Ask questions to elaborate Tambalan Festival.

Ask: What can you say about our town festival?

 Teacher will use powerpoint presentation for some pupils to use nouns in
sentences.

D. Independent Practice

 Teacher will instruct the pupils to think of a particular activity in school like
feeding program and deworming. Use the names of person and event in
simple sentences.

IV. Evaluation

 Use the following nouns or names in simple sentences.


1. Christmas
2. policeman
3. New Year
4. pupils
5. Bayanihan

V. Assignment

 Think of one activity in the barangay. List the nouns and use the identified
nouns in sentences.
