Film Critique on the Inception

Review: Nolan, Christopher (2010). Inception: Science Fiction Action Film.

“Inception”, is the practice of entering dreams and planting an idea in someone's head. Inception works
for the viewer, in a way, like the world itself worked for Leonard, the hero of “Memento”. We are always
in the Now. We have made some notes while getting here, but we are not quite sure where He is. Yet,
matters of life, death, heart and those multi-national corporations are involved.

In the movie the director focused on the father named Dom Cobb which is played by Leonardo DiCaprio,
he is a thief with the rare ability to enter people’s dreams and steal their secrets from their subconscious.
His skill has made him a hot commodity in the world of corporate espionage but has also cost him
everything he loves. Cobb is trying to get home to his kids but in order to do that he needs to do his last
very risky job which is He will enter on someone’s unconscious mind while they’re asleep and try to
plant an idea in their mind. The problem he has, is that by entering there he also goes down into his own
unconsciousness and it’ll bring his dead wife into his mission accidentally, who will become a problem
for everyone involved. It finishes with him finally getting home but right before the end there’s huge hint
pointing out that he may still be asleep and being home is just another level to his unconscious desires
which would mean he never really got home nor living his life anymore. Inception is packed with
allusions and citations. It is not necessarily the kind of experience you would take to your next
appointment. It is more like a diverting fantasy than original nightmare, something to be consider rather
than analyzed, something you may forget as soon as it’s over

The movie is an intense, complex movie but it’s always coherent, very imaginative, and entertaining. The
filmmaker has proven himself a master of time juggling; he rarely presents a story in chronological order.
He often flips time or stacks time on top of itself, balancing several simultaneous storylines precariously,
but with remarkable clarity. Although Inception is a terrific film, it lacks a strong connection with most of
the characters, the movie’s roller coaster ride feel means that there’s little time to stop and get to know
anyone.
