Activity Guide and Evaluation Rubric – Task 4 Speaking Production

1. Activity Description

With this activity, you are expected to achieve the following learning
outcomes:

To express in an oral way the students’ personal, educational, and professional


information using appropriate pronunciation, grammatical structures and the
vocabulary studied in the contents.
The activity consists of:

Individual activity
Step 1 – Speaking practice meeting.

We invite you to join your tutor and classmates in this meeting where you will practice
your communicative abilities in English simulating a job interview. In this space you
can ask your tutor about your sentences and your pronunciation as a preparation
before you record the video.

INSTRUCTIONS

1.1. Check the content of Units 1 (module 1 & 2) & Unit 2 (Module 3 & 4) from the E-
book.

1.2. Enter to the forum and check your tutor’s agenda. Each tutor will open an agenda
with different schedules for the student to set a date and hour to do the speaking
practice. Each student will get the link for the agenda in the forum and
through the email.

ATTENTION: It is the student’s responsibility to check the teacher’s agenda and
to register for the practice. Please register yourself on time and do not leave
for the last days of the activity so you can do a good speaking production
exercise.

1.3. Write a prompt with the questions and answers for the video simulating a job
interview. You should include Personal information (name, age, hometown,
marital status, occupation), hobbies, academic background, working
experience, personal qualities, skills, and weaknesses related to your job. (Use
the vocabulary studied in Task 2 – Writing production and the information shared
by your tutor in the forum).

Individual activity
Step 2 – Making a video

2.1. With a partner make a video where both simulate a job interview. You must be
the person being interviewed. (Your partner can be a classmate, a friend, or a
family member). The duration of the video must approximately 2 minutes.

The interviewer must make questions related to Personal information like name,
age, hometown, marital status, occupation, academic background, hobbies, working
experience, personal qualities, skills, and weaknesses related to a job. (Use the
questions posted for the Speaking practice meeting -Job interview prompt-).

2.2. The video must be uploaded to YouTube or Vimeo or any cloud storage
(OneDrive, Dropbox, Google Drive).

2.3. Publish the link for the video in the forum so your tutor and your classmates can
give you feedback.

2.4. Check your classmates’ videos and make 2 comments about the activity. Include
information that needs to be considered and point out mistakes. Write about your
experience in the meeting and with the program natural readers.

TIPS FOR YOUR COMMENTS:


Your comments to your classmates are important for this task. They will be
evaluated on the second criterion of this task. Keep in mind that you can get 10
points:

ATTENTION: The student must participate in the practice meeting before uploading
the video.

For the development of the activity consider that:

In Initial Information Environment, you must: Check for the initial and closing
dates.

In Learning Environment, you must: Enter to the E book/Online English contents


and study the topics from Module 1 to Module 4. Participate and upload the video in
the forum of the activity.

In Evaluation Environment, you must: Upload the final document with the
evidence from the speaking practice meeting and the video link. Remember the
product of this activity must comply with APA style for references.

2. General Guidelines for the Development of Evidence to Submit

For Individual evidence, consider the following:


• Before delivering the requested product, all the requirements indicated in
this activity guide must be checked.
• Before uploading the video, the students must attend the speaking practice
meeting with the tutor.

Please keep in mind that all individual or collaborative written products must comply
with the spelling rules and presentation conditions defined in this activity guide.
Regarding the use of references, consider that the product of this activity must
comply with APA style.
In any case, make sure you comply with the rules and avoid academic plagiarism.
You can review your written products using the Turnitin tool found in the virtual
campus.

Under the Academic Code of Conduct, the actions that infringe the academic order,
among others, are the following: paragraph e) Plagiarism is to present as your own

another person. It also implies the use of citations or lack of references, or it
