TITLE

The Impact of WhatsApp Messenger Usage on


Students’ Performance.
Objective:
To evaluate the degree of the negative impact of the use of
WhatsApp Messenger on students’ performance.

Sub-Objectives:
1. To determine the relationship between the use of the
application and academic performance.

2. To determine whether this technology has affected students'


social behavior and interactions on campus.

3. To provide recommendations for overcoming problems


faced by students' due to the use of the application.

4. To also determine the positive impacts of this messenger


application among students’.
Variables Involved -

Independent Variable:
1. Frequent use of the application.
2. Free access to WhatsApp

Dependent Variable:
1. WhatsApp takes much of students study time, results in
procrastination related problems.
2. Destroys students’ spellings and grammatical construction
of sentences.
3. Leads to lack of concentration during lectures, results in
difficulty in balancing online activities (WhatsApp) and
academic preparation and distracts students from
completing their assignments and adhering to their private
studies time table.
4. Web addicts have underlying depression, anxiety, or
obsessive-compulsive disorder.

Moderating Variable:
1. 32.7% of the world’s population has access to the internet.
Mediating Variable:
1. It is popular because there is no cost to message friends and
family other than the internet data plan that users already
have on their phones.
2. It is easy to get started. Simply enter the telephone number
of the device into the app
