Persuasive Writing Pretend you are part of the council of the plebs. Argue for or against
the land reforms instituted by Tiberius and Gaius Gracchus

These are the arguments I would think why I would be in favor of the land reforms of
Tiberius and Gracchus if I am one of the members of the council of Plebs:

1. My principle of equality would be revolutionary. We are born equal thus equality

should be observed in political, economic and social aspect of the Roman Republic;
whether a citizen is rich or poor, s/he has the right to own land, cultivate it, flourish
it and profit from it;
2. To reserve the right to own lands for the rich would be egoistic disposition;
3. I could have earned the properties, especially the land through my intelligence, I
could also make it profitable even after the constraint;
4. Material Possession is transitory. There’s no point with having too much property if
in the future if we are all going to die. Thus, transitory properties should be enjoyed
equally;
5. I could have been elected to the council in order to accomplish a good will. I would
be accomplishing the things expected from me as an elected officer by the people;
6. I wouldn’t afraid of the dismissal that I would receive from my colleagues. It is
better to promote the welfare of the people than to live comfortably while
witnessing the hardship of the common people.
