1. The Arabian Peninsula before the arrival of Islam
was a region which was very backward. Most Arabs
were idolaters and others were followers of
Christianity and Judaism. Mecca at that time was a holy
place for the Arabs. because in that place there are
their religious idols and there is also the Well of
Zamzam and the most important thing is the Ka'bah.
Prophet Muhammad was born in Mecca in the year
of the elephant, namely on the 12th of Rabi'ul Awal or
on 21 April (570 or 571 AD). Prophet Muhammad was
an orphan who died when he was 7 years old. Then he
was raised by his grandfather Abdul Muttalib. After his
grandfather died he was also taken care of by his uncle,
namely Abu Talib. Prophet Muhammad later married
Siti Khadijah when he was 25 years old. He was once a
goat herder.
When the Prophet Muhammad was 40 years old, he
was approached by the Angel Jibril. After that he
taught the teachings of Islam secretly to those closest
to him known as "as-Sabiqun al-Awwalun (The first
people to convert to Islam)" and then openly to the
entire population of Mecca, after revelation al- quran
surah al hijr verse 94.
The inhabitants of Mecca and Medina joined the
battle with the Prophet Muhammad with good results
even though there were some Muslims who died. Over
time the Muslims became stronger, and succeeded in
conquering the city of Mecca. After the Prophet
Muhammad died, the entire Arabian Peninsula was
under Islamic control.
