The story of the Jack-O’-Lantern

Jack is a mean and greedy man.
His hobby is to play evil tricks on people.
One day, he plays a trick on the Devil and captures him.
He decides to let him go, but in exchange, the Devil promises never to take his soul.
One day, Jack dies.
He can’t go to heaven, because he was a bad person in his life.
But the Devil keeps his promise and doesn’t let him go to hell!
Jack can only walk forever in the darkness between heaven and hell.
The Devil gives Jack a burning coal from the fires of hell to light his way.
Jack puts the burning coal in a turnip, so it doesn’t burn his hands.
Ever since, he’s been known as Jack of the Lantern, or Jack-O’-Lantern.
