“Joker”, directed by Todd Phillips, is a 2019 american psychological thriller film that is set in

Gotham City. The main character is a mentally troubled comedian Arthur Fleck that is
disregarded and mistreated by society. He then embarks on a downward spiral of revolution and
bloody crime. This path brings him face-to-face with his alter-ego: the Joker.
The film centers on Arthur Fleck that works as a clown and is an aspiring stand-up comic. He
has mental health issues, part of which involves uncontrollable laughter. Times are tough and,
due to his issues and occupation, Arthur has an even worse time than most. Over time these
issues bear down on him, shaping his actions, making him the character most known as Joker.
The plot is pretty fascinating and dramatic.
“Joker” will take you through all the possible moods, and you will really feel the feelings of the
character because of the good acting and the strong cast. The main character, Arthur Fleck
(Joker) is perfectly played by the actor Joaquin Phoenix. The script is touching and the film is
beautifully directed. Joaquin Phoenix is brilliant in his role, and convincing in the emotions he
portrays throughout. Without him in this role, probably “Joker” wouldn’t been the great movie
we have today.
All in all, it is well worth seeing “Joker”, since it is a great film. If you like psychological
thriller films, you are going to love this one especially. Until the next review, be sure to “Put on a
happy face”, as the film “Joker” suggests.
