Read the two accounts of the creation story and write down the basic

differences.

The priestly and yahwist versions of the creation stories vary on the

emphasis of God’s creation and the purpose of man. The priestly tradition of

the story focuses on the creation of the universe and which things God

needed to create while the creation of life starting with man; the rivers that

supported life and the creation of woman was the scope of the yahwist

tradition. Both writing versions portray God as a powerful and generous

creator but the priestly tradition specifies what God created on each day

while the yahwist put emphasis on man as the steward of God’s creations.
