3) Ariel- Ariel was a servant of Sycorax. Ariel is an invisible spirit that was imprisoned in a cloven
pine tree for 12 years because she could not complete tasks given by Sycorax.
Caliban- Caliban’s mom is the witch ,Sycorax. His mom had died and left him to inherit the
island, he was described as a thing most brutish. He felt cheated of his rightful place on the island
by Prospero. He was first treated kindly by Prospero and felt that the show of kindness was to
manipulate him Caliban spoke his own language before he was taught formally by Miranda to
speak. They both are different because Caliban didn’t know how to speak at all and well Ariel is a
servant who wanted to be free whereas Caliban, he doesn’t really have that much respect for
Prospero. (5 marks)

4) Ferdinand was technically proposing to Miranda. If she does accept it, she will become the queen
