Communicative Grammar Game 9

Objective To ask and answer questions

to complete a schedule.
Grammar  What are we going to do on Monday?
We’re going to go hiking.
Interaction pairs
Preparation Make copies of Game 9 (1 per pair).
Cut the sheets along the line.

Directions
Divide the class into pairs. Hand out the schedules
(see Preparation). Make sure each pair has an
A sheet and a B sheet. Explain that these schedules
describe the activities for Camp Hullabaloo, but each
partner has only part of the information. Remind
students not to show their schedule to their partner.
Explain to students that they need to complete the
schedule by asking questions about the future plans.
Model the questions, and then elicit some sample
dialogues:
S1: What are we going to do on Monday?
S2: We’re going to go hiking. What are we going to eat
for dinner that day?
S1: We’re going to eat salad. What are we going to wear?
S2: We’re going to wear a shirt and pants.
S1: Okay, thanks.
Next, invite students to take turns asking each other
the questions to complete the schedule.
When all pairs have finished, check answers by
calling on random students and asking them
general questions.
