1. What is Earth Science?

Answer : Earth Science is the name for the group of sciences that deals with Earth and its neighbors in
space.

2. What is Geology?

Answer : Study of Earth (physical and historical).

3. What is Oceanography?

Answer : Earth’s ocean

4. What is Meteorology?

Answer : It is study of atmosphere and the processes procedure weather climates.

5. What is Astronomy?

Answer : Study of universe.

6. What is Nebular Hypothesis?

Answer : It is suggest that our solar system evolves from enormous rotating cloud (solar nebula).

7. What are the earth’s major spheres?

Answer : Hydrosphere, Atmosphere, Geosphere, Biosphere.

8. What is Plate Tectonics?

Answer : A theory explaining the structure of the earth’s crust and many associated phenomena as
resulting from the interaction of rigid lithospheric plates that move slowly over the underlying mantle.

9. What are the functions of latitude and longitude?

Answer : The function of latitude is to tell us far north south the equator we are. The function of
longitude is to tell us east and west of the prime meridian we are.

10. What is the difference between renewable and non-renewable energy?


Answer : Renewable energy is energy which is generated from natural sources : sun, wind, rain, tides,
and can be generated again and again as and when required. Non-Renewable energy are not
environmental friendly and can have serious affect on our health.

11. What are atoms?

Answer : Atoms are the basic building blocks of matter that make up everyday objects. Atoms are
composed of particles called protons, electrons and neutrons.

12. What are charges (proton, neutron and electron)?

Answer : Proton +1e (positive), Neutron Oe (no charge), Electron -1e (negative)
