1. Spell out the following abbreviations and give the operational meaning of each units.

● na, mile - (nautical mile) measure the distance traveled through the water.
● mph - (miles per hour) an imperial unit of speed expressing the number of statute miles
covered in one hour.
● Mhp - (metric horsepower) a horsepower unit equal to 75 kilogram-meters per second.
● yd - (yard) an English unit of length equal to 36 inches or 3 feet.
● erg - (energy/ work) the amount of work done by a force of one dyne exerted for a
distance of one centimetre.
● rpm - (revolutions per minute) is a unit of frequency: the number of full rotations
completed in one minute around a fixed axis.
● hp - (horsepower) is a unit of measurement of power (the rate at which work is done).
● mi - (mile) is a non-SI (non-System International) measurement unit of length.
● kCal - (kilocalorie) A kilocalorie is another word for what's commonly called a calorie.
One kilocalorie (1 kcal or 1000 calories) is the amount of heat (energy) needed to raise
the temperature of one kg of water by one degree Celsius (°C).
● kn - (knot) are used to measure speed. One knot equals one nautical mile per hour, or
roughly 1.15 statute mph.
● kW - (kilowatts) is measure of 1,000 watts of electrical power.
● ft - (feet)
