more.And He worked with Lucio D. San Pedro in the Lyrics of “Sa Ugoy ng
Duyan”. he wrote lyrics for more than 4,000 Filipino folk, Christmas and love
Guinness Book of Records for playing music using leaves. Philippine National
Artist in Literature and Music (1997). Celerio Born April 30,1910 in Tondo
musician, Celerio is also poet. He was also a film actor who appeared in
various Philippine films of the 1950s and 1960s. see?that`s how amazing
PERSONAL LIFE
Levi Celerio was married to Lina Celerio and has 4 children.
He had four failed relationships. Singer-comedian Veronica Palileo is a half-
sister of his and director-actor Tony Cruz was a half-brother. He also played
the piano at a past time but not in a professional capacity.
They were buddies at the University of the Philippines College of Music, where
they took their undergraduate course in composition and conducting.
Both come from the vast province of Rizal and were born on the same year, 1941:
Santos was born in Pasig and Feliciano in Morong.
Santos earned his Master of Music (with distinction) and PhD at Indiana
University and State University of New York at Buffalo, respectively. He was a
full fellow at the Summer Courses in New Music at Darmstadt, Germany, and
undertook postgraduate work in ethnomusicology at University of Illinois under
grants from the Ford Foundation and Asian Cultural Council.
He was elected as member of Honor of the Asian Composers League, which he led
as chair in 1994-1997.
He was elected vice president of the International Music Council of the Unesco,
2001-2005, in which he served as the first Filipino in the five-man praesidium of
the highest governing body of the international music community.
At UP Diliman, he is emeritus professor and former dean of the College of Music.
He is secretary general of the National Music Competitions for Young Artists
(Namcya) and the League of Filipino Composers. He is a former commissioner of
the NCCA and artistic director of the CCP.

RECOGNITION
Santos was made a Chevalier de l'Ordre des Arts et Lettres in 1987. In 2014 he was
named one of six National Artists of the Philippines, together with five other
persons.
Among awards he has received are Composer-in-Residence of Bellagio Study
Center/Rockefellar Foundation (1997); Artist-in-Residence, Civitella Ranieri
Center (1998); Acheivement Award in the Humanities from National Research
Council of the Philippines (1994); Fellowships from the Asian Cultural Council
and The Ford Foundation (1998-1989); and Chevalier de l’Ordre des Artes et
Lettres, French Government.
