Cause

In the 19 hundred along the eastern Mediterranean was religious diverse that was changing where
people were not just Arabs but Palestine, up north the Jews joined a movement called Zionism which
said that Jewism was not just a religion but a Nationality and deserved its own nation. They established
this nation in the middle east. After world war 1 the British took control of the middle east which they
called Palestine. The British allowed Jewish immigration but as time passed and jobs were taken tension
between the Jews and the Arabs grew. The British eventually limited the Jews but this caused the Jews
to form militias to both fight the British and the Arabs. The British proposed a division of separate states
one for Jews called Israel and one for the Arabs, Palestine. The Arabs saw this as just a way to steal their
land, because of this the Arabs declared war on The Jews in an attempt to make an all-Arab state. The
Jews won the war but, in the process, pushed past their borders the UN set in place. After a few more
wars the Jews managed to gain control of the Palestine. Israel signed a peace treaty where if they gave
back Egypt there would be no more war, but the still owned Gaza the Palestine state. A group called the
PLO fought against Israel. There was something else going on, Jewish settlers that moved in for religions
reasons or to claim it for Israel.

Consequences

In the late 1980s Palestinian frustration exploded into an “intifada” which is the Arabic word for
uprising. The tension between the Palestinians and Israel got so bad that an agreement on peace was
made that allowed the Palestinians more freedom to govern themselves. This did not work a d another
group of extremists where founded based on the destruction of Israel. A 2 nd invasion occurs this one
more brutal. Israel set up boarders and checkpoints, their politics shift to the managing the conflict
rather then trying to solve it.
