Thermometer:.

A electronic thermometer can be used three different ways .

Nurse should ensure safe and effective care. Washing your hands with soap and warm water
should be do first. Using a clean thermometer is a must, one that has been washed in cold
water, cleaned with rubbing alcohol, and then rinsed to remove the alcohol. This is to
prevent the patients for any contact with dirt and inspections.

Glucometer
Ensure that you understand the patient's condition, the reason for the test, and the possible
outcomes of the procedure. It is important that you determine the patient’s understanding
of the procedure and the purpose for monitoring blood glucose level.

IV Pump
Regular maintenance is required. The nurse is maintaining implantable pump systems, and
he or she must have a thorough understanding of the systems and their various applications.
The discomfort and restrictions imposed on the patient by their use are minimal. The
required maintenance is infrequent and simple enough to allow for greater mobility and
freedom from hospitalization for the patient.

 PCA Pump
Monitoring requirements should be developed for patients who are receiving PCA. At a
minimum, the patient's level of pain, alertness, vital signs, and rate and quality of
respirations should be evaluated. The staff must be alert for signs of oversedation.

Holter Monitor
It is important to tell your patient, what she/he can do or don’t while wearing holter
monitor. Also you can provide a comprehensive list of what patient are safe to do and what
patient should avoid during a Holter monitor test.

EEG monitor
The patient does not require any specific nursing care before having an EEG, but nurses
should provide information and support as some patients may be anxious about the
procedure. Patients need to be relaxed for this investigation. Fear or anxiety can cause
changes in brainwave patterns or generate unwanted signals from tense head and neck
muscles.
