"Because of Winn-Dixie" tells the story of a lonely girl with a distant father, who is adopted by a dog.

The dog changes her life, helps her make her friends, and gives her someone to confide in for the first
time. All without doubt sweet and warm-hearted,

The little girl is named Opal (AnnaSophia Robb). She is 10, and lives in a house trailer supplied rent-
free to her dad, who preaches in a church that uses the corner convenience store. When Opal was 3,
her mother ran away from the family for reasons unknown. Preacher (apparently his only name) has
been depressed ever since, and spends long hours gazing out the window and "working on a sermon."

He sends Opal to the Winn-Dixie supermarket, and while she's there a dog runs up and down the
aisles and is chased by countless clerks, who skid into piles of cans and knock over pyramids of boxes;
destruction during a supermarket chase is the indoor shopping equivalent of the. Fruit Cart Scene.
Opal rescues the dog, claims it is hers, and names it Winn-Dixie.

The story is engaging a true to life story because there are really a lot of chuldren who left by their
parents because specially their father because they are Preacher, another one is that in real life we
used to adopt dogs that are homeless and we took care of them because I believe that they also have
feelings like us humans and specially me I really love taking care of dog because they are sweet and
adorable.

I think there is an accurate reflection of human condition and contemporary life but with
stereotyping. In terms of treating a dog, if the dong is clean we are taking care of them but if the dong
is not clean we used to ignore and abuse them.

The plot of the movie really appeals to young adults, because there are really children who left by
their parents because of some issues or reasons, and yes it is different to have your parents beside
you and taking care of you but we need to be strong, know our values and always thing that we have
a lot of friends and relatives who can help us in every obstacles in life.

The setting of Because of Winn-Dixie probably takes place between the 1960s and 1990s in the small
town of Naomi, Florida. The trailer park, church, library, pet store, and Gloria Dump's home are
important parts of the setting. And for me it is believable because they used a real places.
