The typical load-displacement curves recorded during the quasi-static tests of

laminated (4mm and 8mm) and sandwich samples are reported in Fig.8 . In order to
compare and analyze the energy absorption in composites until perforation, the
maximum loads, elastic energy up to the maximum load and the total indentation
energy were determined and the results were reported in tables 2. The absorbed
energy has been evaluated from the area under the load-deflection curve using
trapezoidal numerical integration.
