Questions

1. Why does the attempt at partnering appear to be failing?

The partnering attempt appeared to be failing because there was no evaluation or

monitoring of the project. Karin should have documented the scope, schedule
and the budget of the project in order for every member to work cooperatively
understanding the requirements of the project and the software.

2. How could planning have prevented these problems?

As mentioned in the case study, contractors complained that they were unaware
of who is in charge of what. An appropriate planning during the first meeting
about the requirements of the project and proper distribution of the deliverables
could have prevented these problems. Planning would have allowed proper
gathering of assumptions and requirements of each division.

3. If you were Karin, what would you do to get the project back on track?

If I was managing the project

 Reviewing the resources and making sure the correct person is assigned
for each task.
 Looking for a solution that would prevent any conflict between the
contractors and task force members.

4. What actions would you take to keep the project on track?

Actions required to keep the project on track:

 Regular monitoring to check the project processes.

 Regular brainstorming sessions to get the opinion from the experts
involved in the project.
